My Business Venture:Setting up an online quiz business that sold quiz packs to my subscribers.
My Problem:
I had a website, (www.quizpack.com), I had a system in place to capture email addresses, BUT I didn't had any traffic!
The keyword I chose to rank for was the term quiz pack. However, a quick search on Google revealed I had over 6 MILLION competing websites, all grappling to get the top spot.

I knew there were some things that I could do to help get traffic...
- Optimise my website to allow Google to find it easier

What are backlinks?

So how did I manage this huge leap to No 1?
Well, you've probably guessed it... I created lots of backlinks to my site. So how can you generate backlinks?Submitting your website to directories
There are a lot of websites directories out there and many are free to submit on, so I highly recommend you do this. Just search for free directory submission on Google.
Buying backlinks
You could contact other website owners and ask them to put your link on their site. However, this is limited and will take a lot of time and money.
Writing articles
Writing articles are a good way of getting backlinks because most article websites allow you to put information about your website in something called a Resource Box. Within this box you can put one or two backlinks to your website.
However, this will be time consuming as you may need hundreds of backlinks meaning you'd have to write hundreds of articles... Not only this, but Google will devalue your backlinks if they come from the same article, so you can't just submit the same article to different websites....
